The Scombrini are a tribe of mackerel and tuna (Scombridae) consisting of two genera . The two genera of the Scombrini, Scomber and Rastrelliger , have small, conical teeth and a large number of gill rays . Within the Scombridae they are the group with the fewest vertebrae (31). There are only two keels on the tail fin stalk. The middle one, which all higher Scombrids have, is missing.
