The Scoresby Head is a headland on the northwestern extension of Smyley Island off the English coast of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It marks the western limit of the Trathan coast .
The first sighting from the air goes back to scientists of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) in December 1940. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee renamed it in 2010 after long known as Cape Smyley and considered part of the mainland coast.
