Scott Neal (born June 10, 1978 in Islington , London ) is a British actor .

life and career

In 1989 he joined the Anna Scher Theater School in London, where he took acting lessons. He made his debut on Channel 4's The Listening TV series in 1991 . This was followed by several small roles in other television series such as Bramwell ( ITV 1 ), Prime Suspect (ITV 1) and London's Burning (ITV 1). He became known in Germany for his role as Steven (Ste) Pearce in the award-winning coming-out film Beautiful Thing from 1996.

In his home country he has since appeared in series and television films, which have not yet been shown in Germany. Between 1997 and 1999 he played the young police officer Luke Ashton in the British police series The Bill ( ITV 1 ), who was newly hired from police school in the Sun Hill Police Station in London (initially on probation) and finally left the police service after he did not could prevent a man from shooting his little daughter first and then himself before his eyes. In 2002 Luke Ashton returned. Although his character is now more self-confident, this time he has to deal with his sexual orientation: He tries to hide his homosexuality in the police station by marrying his colleague Kerry Young - despite the fact that he has his police chief Craig Gilmore (played by Hywel Simons) kissed and even ended up in bed with him on his own bachelorette party. When his homosexuality was finally exposed in the police station and the marriage fell apart, he left Sun Hill for the second time in 2003. ITV received 1,300 complaints following episode 37, which aired August 22, 2002 and featured the first kiss between Luke Ashton and Craig Gilmore. It was the first time that a kiss between two men in uniform had been shown on British television. He appeared as a lawyer three times between 2008 and 2012 in the TV series Emmerdale (ITV 1). In November 2010 he was seen on Hollyoaks ( Channel 4 ) in the role of interior designer Alphonse.

In the theater he appeared in the plays Yours Fondly , Zekk Baxter and in the musical Last Song of the Nightingale .
