Scott Quigg (* 10. October 1988 in Bury , Lancashire , United Kingdom ) is a British professional boxer and former WBA world champion at super bantamweight .

Quigg played as an amateur only 12 fights, of which he was able to make 10 victorious and lost two.

Professional career

At the age of 18, in 2007, the 1.73 meter tall Brit made his professional debut and won over his compatriot Gary Sheil unanimously over six rounds on points. On September 25, 2010 he won the vacant intercontinental WBC belt. Against Jason Booth he became British Champion (BBBofC) by an early victory the following year . He was able to defend this title once. With a technical knockout. -Win became WBA interim world champion.

On October 5, 2013 he boxed against the previously undefeated Cuban Yoandris Salinas for the regular world championship belt of the WBA. The fight ended in a draw. A good six weeks later, Quigg was allowed to box again for the world championship - this time his opponent was Argentinian Diego Oscar Silva . Quigg won in the second round by technical knockout and thus won the regular WBA world title. He was able to defend this belt five times, three times by TKo and once by unanimous decision.

In February 2016, he lost just on points against IBF title holder Carl Frampton .
