The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is an art museum in Edinburgh .

The museum opened in 1960 in the Inverleith House of the Royal Royal Gardens. In 1980 the museum moved to the current neoclassical building. The building was built in 1825-1828 by William Burn for John Watson's Hospital . In front of the museum building there is a sculpture garden with works by Henry Moore , Rachel Whiteread , Tony Cragg and Barbara Hepworth . The work "Landform" by Charles Jencks is integrated into the lawn in front of the museum . The museum exhibits works by Pablo Picasso , Georges Braque , Piet Mondrian , Ben Nicholson , Henri Matisse , Andy Warhol , Roy Lichtenstein , The Scottish Colourists , Peter Howson , Levannah Harris , Francis Bacon , Lucian Freud , Boyle Family and Douglas Gordon .
