The 2011/12 season is hosting the highest Scottish ice hockey league , the Scottish National League . The league is run by the Scottish Ice Hockey Association , the Scottish federation under the umbrella of the British Ice Hockey Association Ice Hockey UK .

The team of the Solway Sharks, which was withdrawn from the game operation in the preseason, took part again in the league and replaced the Typhoons of the Moray Firth IHC. Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The top eight reached the play-offs .
