With a length of two and a half kilometers and a maximum width of almost 700 meters, Scrub Island has an area of 0.96 km² (236 acres ). The island consists of two towering hills of volcanic origin, which are connected by a flat and narrow isthmus. The smaller western part (called the Little Scrub ) rises 95 meters (313 feet ), while the larger eastern part (Big Scrub) reaches a height of 133.5 meters (438 feet).
An exclusive holiday resort was opened in 2010 on the previously uninhabited and little developed island.
