The rocky island of Scruopolo (also Scoglione, Liscola, Linola, Scoglio di Recommone ) consists of a large cliff that juts out of the Gulf of Salerno close to the mainland in front of the Bay of Recommone on the south side of the Sorrento peninsula . It belongs to the territory of the Campanian municipality of Massa Lubrense . The name is derived from the Latin scopulus 'rock'. The name Liscola is presumably a diminutive of the name of the larger, rocky island of Isca to the east . Linola was created through a copying error of this name. To the north, Scruopolo is flanked by a smaller rock.

The submarine slopes around the rock are especially appreciated by divers. Scruopolo also marks the position of two famous grottos on the opposite mainland (Grotta dei Palummi or Grotta dello Scruopolo and Grotta Argentata or Piccola Grotta Azzurra) .
