history

The Association of Independents, originally the Association of Independent Candidates , was registered as a party on August 24, 2000 . The party emerged as an umbrella organization for those mayors and officials who did not belong to any party and thus had no opportunity to run for office in the Czech district council. In the two-week period up to the submission of the candidate list, it was only possible to run for candidates in three circles. In these she was able to win between 5.5 percent and 12.9 percent votes.

On November 10, 2001 , the first congress of independent local politicians took place in Nové Město na Moravě . 164 people took part. A new election manifesto was drawn up at this meeting. In addition, numerous petitions were submitted to the President, most of which contained a solution to municipal problems. Participation in the elections to the Czech parliament was also decided.

In the following months, proposals for renaming the party were collected. In the session of February 23, 2002 the party was renamed Sdružení nezávislých . In the 2002 election to the Czech House of Representatives, the party received 2.8 percent of the vote and became the strongest extra-parliamentary force. The party was more successful in the district elections. Here she exceeded the five percent hurdle and achieved mandates in the district council.

In March 2003 the party was renamed SNK sdružení nezávislých (abbreviation "SNK").

For the 2004 European elections , the SNK joined an electoral coalition with the Evropští democé party . The electoral coalition won three seats, of which SNK occupied two. In 2006, both parties merged to form the SNK Evropští democé .
