SEA + AIR is a German indie pop - duo of Baden-Wuerttemberg . It consists of the German musician Daniel Benjamin and the Greek musician Eleni Zafiriadou . Both are multi-instrumentalists ; B. harpsichord , guitar , drums , electric guitar and keyboard . SEA + AIR emerged in 2011 from Benjamin's previous solo project.
history
Daniel Benjamin began a solo career in 2003 and released several self-distributed EPs . In 2006 the album Daniel Benjamin was released on the German indie label Haldern Pop Recordings . He dedicated himself to various styles of music such as indie , pop , jazz and classical and often played several instruments live at the same time. In addition to his solo project, Benjamin was the drummer for the band Jumbo Jet .
Eleni Zafiriadou is a Greek folk dancer. She was the singer of the band Jumbo Jet until 2009 and already supported Daniel Benjamin during his solo project. The couple has been married since 2004.
In January 2011 Zafiriadou and Benjamin founded the duo SEA + AIR. SEA + AIR also compose film music (e.g. it's always the others to blame 2012, hot and cold soul 2012). In October 2011 they started a three-year tour and played around 600 shows in 22 countries.
They have been under contract with the German label Glitterhouse Records since May 2015 and will release their second album Evropi across Europe on August 21, 2015 .
style
Zafiriadou and Benjamin call their music ghost pop . It is a mixture of Mediterranean melodies that have been passed down through generations and extraordinary instruments. The result is often anthemic, mostly catchy, sometimes mildly experimental pop songs with varied, multi-layered arrangements , which are rounded off by the vocal harmony of the two.
