Life

Born in 1993 in Busselton in the state of Western Australia on the west coast of Australia, Keenan grew up as a surfer like many Australians on the coastal areas and began this sport at a young age. Keenan, who grew up with absolutely no acting experience, won the title role of Lockie Leonard in the television series of the same name in 2006 through a competition in which he prevailed against thousands of competitors . He was nominated as a student of the Busselton Primary School when the auditions for the upcoming series took place in southwest Australia. He had already read all of Tim Winton's books , whose novel was made into a film from 2006. For the filming, which took place almost exclusively in the coastal town of Albany in Western Australia, he moved with his family to Albany for the three-month shoot and only then returned to his homeland. Due to his acting engagement, Keenan's school education was also delayed, but this did not affect him. For his title role as Lockie he was nominated for a Young Actor's Award in 2007 and in 2008 also received a nomination for a Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent at the Logie Awards and a nomination for a Young Artist Award in the category "Best Performance in a TV Series - Leading Young Actor". At the Young Artist Awards, however, he could not prevail against Jamie Johnston from Degrassi: The Next Generation . During this time he was already employed by the talent agency Shanahan Management Pty Ltd. based in Surry Hills , New South Wales . In 2008 he was hired for a role in The Island of Adventure , where he was supposed to play the main character's imaginary friend Nim Rusoe (played by Abigail Breslin ). In the final version of the film, however, the scenes in which he was involved were cut out, as they had too much effect on the length of the film. However, these scenes can all be seen in the bonus material of the DVD version and were therefore not lost.

In 2011, Keenan took on a minor supporting role in the three-part miniseries Cloudstreet , in which he appeared in all three parts. Since 2012 he has played the leading role of Gary Hennessey in the television series Puberty Blues . In 2013 he had a supporting role in the third season of the youth series Dance Academy - Dance your dream! inside.
