Seaside, Oregon is a small town in Clatsop County , Oregon , United States.

The city is located on the Oregon coast (Pacific) and had a population of 6,457 in 2010. The urban area has an area of ​​10.72 km² (of which land: 10.20 km²; water: 0.52 km²).

The name comes from the vacation home Seaside House , which was built in 1870 on behalf of Ben Holladay . The place received the town charter (municipal corporation) in 1899 .

Events

The Seaside Jazz Festival (former name: Oregon Dixieland Jubilee ) is an annual event; bands play traditional jazz and swing pieces .

The Miss Oregon Pageant contest , the final for the Miss America Pageant , takes place annually at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center .

Attractions

The Seaside Aquarium opened in 1937. In addition to living marine animals , an 11-meter-long whale skeleton is shown.

The National Park Service lists four structures in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) for Seaside (as of January 5, 2019), including the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse .

Transport infrastructure

The place is connected to US Route 101 and US Route 26 . There is a regional airport ( Seaside Municipal Airport ).
