Sebastián Zubieta

Sebastián Zubieta (* in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine composer and music teacher.

Zubieta studied music at the Universidad Católica Argentina and took private composition lessons with Gerardo Gandini and Mariano Etkin . At Yale University he studied composition with Ezra Laderman , Alvin Singleton and Joseph Schwantner and conducting with Marguerite Brooks . He also attended courses in composition, early music and music technology, etc. a. with Martin Bresnick , Pedro Memelsdorff and Néstor Zadoff . He taught music history at the Universidad de Buenos Aires , composition at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata , Music Appreciation at the Centro de Arte y Tecnología in Argentina and Yale University, and music analysis at the Yale School of Music .

From 1991 to 1993 he was the singer and arranger of craso error , a group that combined Argentine folk music with the rhythms and harmonics of rock music. Together with the composer Suzanne Farrin and the percussionists Jason Treuting and Lawson White, he founded the group for new music neithermusic , which performs American compositions from the period after the Second World War in addition to its own works.
