Ezra Laderman
Ezra Laderman (born June 29, 1924 in Brooklyn , New York , † February 28, 2015 in New Haven , Connecticut ) was an American composer . He studied from 1946 to 1949 with Stefan Wolpe and at Brooklyn College with Miriam Gideon . He continued his education at Columbia University (MA 1952 ). His teachers there were u. a. Otto Luening and Douglas Moore . Laderman's work includes ten operas , numerous other stage music, music for film and television, orchestral music - including eight symphonies and several solo concerts - vocal music and chamber music .
In 1991, Laderman was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters , where he served as President from 2006 to 2009.
