Sebastian Diezig

Sebastian Diezig (born April 2, 1983 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss cellist .

Life

At the age of 6 he began his musical training at the Freiburg Conservatory with Pierre-Bernard Sudan . Sebastian Diezig has been studying with Marc Jaermann at the Lausanne Conservatory since 2000, where he received his teaching diploma with distinction in 2004. This was followed by further studies with Thomas Demenga at the Hochschule für Musik (Basel) , from which he graduated in 2008 with a soloist diploma. Diezig attended master classes with Walter Levin from the LaSalle String Quartet and with Gérard Wyss . He attended other master classes with Marcio Carneiro at the Académie de musique d'été de Sion , with Pierre Amoyal and with Antonio Meneses and Wen-Sinn Yang . He was a fellow of the Pierre et Renée Glasson Foundation in Friborg and the Friedl Wald Foundation Basel.

Diezig is deputy solo cellist in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and has already performed with the Basel Symphony Orchestra , the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana , at the Lucerne Festival and at the Sine Nomine Festival in Lausanne.

Sebastian Diezig lives in Lucerne with his wife, the violinist Paula Novoa .

  • 2002: 1st prize at the Swiss youth music competition .
  • 2003: 3rd prize at the Concours de l'interprétation musicale de Lausanne .
  • 2008: 3rd prize at the Gianni Bergamo Classic Award international cello competition in Lugano
  • 2008: Special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Zagreb
  • 2008: Recognition award in the competition of the Basler Orchester-Gesellschaft Foundation .
