Sebastian Faißt (born March 7, 1988 in Aichhalden ; † March 3, 2009 in Schaffhausen , Switzerland ) was a German handball player .

Sebastian Faißt began playing handball at TV Alpirsbach in 1992 . In 2004 he moved to TuS Schutterwald , in 2007 to HSG Konstanz and in 2008 to the handball Bundesliga at TSV Dormagen . The 1.94 m tall right back player attracted attention early on. He benefited above all from his appearances in the U21 national team, at the regional division Konstanz he could not prevail against team captain Sebastian Seitner . Nevertheless, Dormagen brought him into the Bundesliga. Already in his first Bundesliga game at the start of the season at THW Kiel , a surprising 28:28, Faißt was able to convince and score four goals. It was the only point loss of the Kiel in the entire preliminary round. Altogether Faißt scored 22 goals in 20 Bundesliga games.

During a game of the German U21 national team against Switzerland, in which Faißt led the German team as captain and also scored the first goal, he collapsed after an attack while running back without enemy influence. Despite resuscitation measures by team doctor Kurt Steuer and an emergency doctor, he could not be saved and died an hour later. During the autopsy in Zurich, heart failure was found to be the cause of death. Faißt was considered one of the greatest German handball talents.

With the national junior team of the DHB, Faißt won the silver medal at the European Championships in Romania in 2008.
