Secondhand Child (English for 'second hand child') was a metal band from Switzerland . The musical direction of the band can be described as a mixture of modern groove metal , crossover , hardcore punk and punk . From 2011, the band shortened their name to ShC .

Going Postal

In December 2007, the band played their song, Going Postal, inspired by the film Postal , during a concert in Aarau that was filmed for the Internet music show The Hard Way . Band manager Nando Rohner sent the video recording of the song to Postal director Uwe Boll , who was taken with it. The band then went to Littlecreek Studio to record the song. During the two-day recording session was beside Going Postal and Global Suicide added. After the end of the recordings, the band got in touch again with Uwe Boll, who gave them permission to cut a video clip from film scenes from Postal before the film officially opened in cinemas in the USA. The video clip can also be seen in the bonus material of the German DVD and Blu-ray of the Director's Cut by Postal .

In 2010 the band released the free download EP We've Never Been Here… on their homepage , which, in addition to various remixes, also received the original version of Going Postal and Global Suicide . For their 2011 album Chapter I: Spontaneous Human Combustion , the band reworked both Going Postal and Global Suicide and added the vocals of Steve Salama, who has recently joined the band, to both pieces. In 2011, Going Postal was featured on the soundtrack of the computer game Postal III .

Laid to rest

In 2010 ShC manager Nando Rohner sent the two songs Going Postal and Global Suicide (both from the EP We've Never Been Here… ) to the makers of the slasher film Laid to Rest . Director Robert Hall and producer Chang Tseng were enthusiastic about the music and gave the band official permission to play a song for the soundtrack of the then-in-production sequel Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 . The band decided to write a piece of music that was directly inspired by the character of the Chromeskull killer from Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 . In order to generate an obvious reference to both films, the song was named Laid to Rest . At the beginning of February 2011 the band went to the Littlecreek Studio to record Laid to Rest with producer VO Pulver (front man of the band Gurd ). The song CCL (Chaos Called Life) was also created during the studio stay . Both should appear on the album Chapter One: Spontaneous Human Combustion at the end of October 2011 .

Laid to Rest can be heard in the credits of Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 . After a few theatrical screenings in the USA, the film is due to be released on DVD on September 20, 2011, in Germany on November 25, 2011 on DVD and Blu-ray. The band also shot a video clip for Laid to Rest , of which there is a version without excerpts from the film and one with excerpts from Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 , which Robert Hall himself inserted into the clip. The clip for Laid to Rest was released on September 7, 2011 on the band's homepage of ShC.
