The Security Bay (English for safety bay ; in Argentina Bahía Sin Nombre , Spanish for bay without a name ) is a bay on the north coast of Doumer Island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Graham Land . It lies between Homeward Point in the west and Gauthier Point in the east.
Participants of the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot mapped them. The designation was made by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1958. It is named after the fact that the bay has provided a safe anchorage for the hydrographic surveying unit of the Royal Navy , which was active here between 1956 and 1957, in the prevailing winds in this area .
