In the spring of 1945, the engineer Driesen designed the Sea Dragon speedboat based on the Hydra speedboat . The concept was based on the bracing of two hulls of the Hydra to form a catamaran-like boat with a total width of 9 meters. The primary weapons consisted of four 45 cm diameter aircraft torpedoes of the type F5b . The sea kite was to be powered by a pulse tube of a V1 (Pulso push tube Argus-As-014 with 335 kp thrust) attached in the middle of the rear connecting crossbar . After the production of a prototype, the sea kite was tested in trials. There, due to its high top speed of around 60 knots, like its counterpart , the tornado , it suffered from high instability, which could lead to capsizing. The project therefore remained in the planning phases until the end of the war.
