Regatta activity

Laser regatta at the SCAI

Every year the SCAI organizes several nationally and internationally visited regattas in its boat classes Flying Dutchman (FD), Corsair and Laser . These regatta series are called International Kuhschellen-Regatta and Internationale 7-Schwaben-Regatta.

There are also championships at irregular intervals. Past championships were for example: Allgäu Outlet-Cup - Int. German Championship Laser Standard & Radial (2009), Int. German Championship Laser IDMa (2005), Stecher Sailing Cup - Int. German Championship Korsar and Flying Dutchman (2004), World Master Championship Flying Dutchman (1998), Int. In 2015 the International German Championship in Flying Dutchman will take place here, the "Alpsee Outlet Cup - IDM FD 2015".

Due to the active regatta activities, the SCAI can also count several internationally very successful sailors among its members. This includes in particular Peter Lang from Immenstadt, who in the Flying Dutchman as the forearm of the multiple world champion and Olympian Albert "Alba" Batzill from Schlier, among other things the European bronze medal in 1988, the world championship title in 1989, the world champion bronze medal in 1990 and again the European bronze medal in 1991 sailed. Batzill and Lang also finished fifth in the 1992 Olympic Games . Both Lang and Batzill are honorary members of the association today.

Another competitive sailor of the club is Philipp Buhl, who barely missed the 2012 Olympic ticket in the Laser Standard Laser (boat class) .
