The Asso 99 is a racing yacht . The 10 m long boat is designed for the conditions on European inland waters . The regatta crew is six people, including three crew members in the trapeze .

The Asso 99 is a keelboat with a flat, dinghy-like underwater hull and a high 7/8 rig with double backstays. In order to sail the Asso 99 as fast as possible, three crew members have to climb into the trapeze. The boat is safe from overturning due to the ballast content of 45%.

The sailing behavior with more wind corresponds to that of a dinghy when gliding - under spinnaker it reaches over 20 knots in the gliding phase  . The boat starts planing space sheets from around 3 Beaufort .

The Asso's sailing behavior is good-natured in light winds. With a professional crew, the Asso 99 is still easy to control even in a lot of wind, as the wind pressure is quickly converted into speed. An Asso won the Centomiglia on Lake Garda in winds of up to 10 Beaufort.

The international class association is very active. Several regattas are held annually on inland waters in Italy, Hungary, Switzerland and Germany.

The Asso 99 class is represented in Austria with 10, in Germany with approx. 30, in Switzerland with approx. 15, in Hungary with 21 and in Italy with approx. 80 boats.

There are numerous modified Asso 99 with top spinnaker up to 120 m² sail area, Code 0 (large light wind genoa) or gennaker . With outriggers instead of trapeze, it is possible to measure the boat according to Dansk Handicap and to take part in coastal sea regattas such as the Fyn Cup (around Fyn / Denmark). An ORC survey has existed for the Asso99 since 2017, which makes it possible to take part in most regattas in coastal waters without any modification.
