Seifertsmühl is part of the municipality of Merzdorf in the south of Brandenburg in the Elbe-Elster district .

history

Seifertsmühl was first mentioned in 1403 as the Sifridismoel . It is therefore the youngest of the Schraden villages, with the exception of Schraden itself. The name probably means Siegfried's mill .

Seifertsmühl was originally the Vorwerk of the Elsterwerda Manor . The village originated in the 16th century.

Ecclesiastically, Seifertsmühl belonged to the Frauenhain, 5 kilometers away . The children of Seifertsmühl were taught by two teachers in Merzdorf .

Agriculture has always been the main source of income for the place. Merzdorf and Seifertsmühl were still producing 1000 to 3000 tons of onions per year at the beginning of the 20th century , which were mainly sold in the cities of Saxony . But cucumbers and carrots were also grown.
