Seiji Nishimura

Seiji Nishimura ( Japanese 西村 誠 司 , Nishimura Seiji ; born July 9, 1956 in Kumamoto Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese karate master. He has the 7th Dan JKF Wadōkai and is one of the most successful national coaches of the Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF).

Born and raised in Kumamoto Prefecture, Seiji Nishimura began karate training at the age of 15. In 1982 Nishimura won the WKF World Championship in Kumite .

Nishimura began after his active competitive career to train the Japanese national karate team; In 15 years as coach of the national team he has helped numerous karateka to international success through his training methods and his experience: for example, Manabu Takenouchi won the national championships in kumite under Nishimura in 1994.

Nishimura has been Senior Director of JKF Wadokai since 2016 .

In addition to Wadōkai, Seiji Nishimura also practices the Gōjū-ryū and the Kushin-ryū style. However, he himself preferred the Wadō style because of its technical diversity and efficiency. Nishimura teaches in his own dojo as well as at Fukuoka University . He also gives weekly seminars across Japan and abroad; He is a regular guest at the annual karate summer camp in Ravensburg and at the largest karate summer camp in Austria in Neuhofen an der Krems.
