The Albino – Selvino cable car connects the Serio Valley in the Bergamo province at 342 m above sea level. d. M. Albino with Selvino high above it on a plateau at an altitude of about 960 m .

The Ferrovia Val Seriana railway, built in 1884, from Bergamo via Albino to Vertova (with a later extension to Ponte Selva and Clusone ) improved the traffic connections in the valley, but not those of the higher places. This was especially true for Selvino and the neighboring Aviatico , which could only be reached via mule tracks. There was a long discussion about connecting the plateau to the valley by a funicular, a cable car or a rack railway, but all projects failed because of the costs. It was not until 1950, when tourism increased and the associated construction of second homes, that the cable car project revived.

The aerial tramway was planned from 1954 and opened in 1958. Your two cabins for 30 people each (plus cabin attendant) overcome a height difference of 538 m and a sloping length of 2.9 km in about seven minutes. The maximum speed is 7.15 m / s (25.7 km / h). The two carrying ropes have a diameter of 44 mm, the pull rope of 21 mm and the counter rope of 20 mm. There is also a 12 mm auxiliary rope for emergencies.

In 2010 the cable car was completely renewed (ropes, cabins, drive, etc.) and it was officially opened on July 9, 2010.
