The Laveno cable car is a basket lift in the Lombard town of Laveno-Mombello , which leads to the 1062 meter high mountain Sasso del Ferro ( Lage ). The mountain station is on its western slope at 974 m next to a restaurant. The locals affectionately call it the paint bucket lift because the gondolas are round like a bucket. In 2006 the old Trojer facility was renovated by CCM, and since then it has also had closed cabins and is uniformly green. The train is in operation all year round and the journey time is around 16 minutes. During the journey and from the mountain you have a wonderful view over Lake Maggiore to Monte Rosa . At the summit there is a launch and landing area for paragliders.

The cabins of the paint bucket elevator do not have seats and only accommodate two people who have to stand. There are open and covered cabins. This is followed by one covered and two open ones.

Former Laveno ski lift

About 50 meters away from the mountain station of the railway are the remains of the Laveno ski lift , which was in operation in the 1980s. It is a triangular curved surface lift with plates that was built by the Leitner AG company . The lift overcame a height difference of around 150 meters over a distance of around 600 meters.
