Leitner AG , based in Sterzing in South Tyrol, is a company that is active in the construction of ropeways and is part of the High Technology Industries (HTI) group.
history
After the company was founded by Gabriel Leitner in 1888, the company later took part in the construction of the Kohlerer Bahn , the first aerial cableway in Europe, from Bozen to Kohlern in 1908.
In 1925 the workshop had expanded from its initial ten employees to a company with the series production of agricultural machinery. When, after the Second World War, tourism and skiing in the Alps, and thus the development of the mountains, became an increasingly important topic, Leitner not only specialized in material ropeways, but also in the construction of passenger transport systems.
Since 2011, Leitner AG, together with its sister companies Prinoth and Demaclenko, has been the first full-range supplier of winter technologies for ski areas.
In 1993, the building contractor Michael Seeber took over the majority of Leitner AG and was able to expand it through acquisitions and mergers:
- 1999: Waagner Biro ropeway technology division in Vienna
- 1999: First direct drive in the cable car industry in Ladurns , Italy
- 2000: Pomagalski SA (lift systems, brand name "POMA") in Voreppe , France
- 2000: Prinoth AG
