Cable length encoder
A cable length encoder (also cable sensor, cable travel transducer or cable encoder ) is a measuring device for length measurement with an accuracy of up to 0.01 mm. It consists of a cable drum with a spring mechanism and an encoder system. A mostly linear movement of a machine is converted into a rotary movement in the draw-wire length encoder . This rotation can be evaluated using a simple, inexpensive encoder system.

Wide range of variants Versions for measuring distances from 5 cm to over 40 m and various output signals (potentiometer, 0… 10 VDC, 4… 20 mA, digital encoder and RS232 / 422 standard interfaces) are available.
Draw wire transducers can be configured in many ways. The ropes are available in different designs (material, strength, coating). The position of the rope exit and connection exit can usually be selected in 90 ° steps.
With some device types, cable brakes (prevention of kickback) and additions for a higher degree of protection at the cable outlet are available as options.
