The Seimare Dam (also: Seymareh) is an arch dam on the Seimare in Darrehshahr , Ilam Province , Iran . The main purpose of the dam is to generate hydropower . Studies for the dam were conducted in the 1970s and construction began in 1997 with diversion work. Concreting work began in 2006 and the river was dammed on May 19, 2011. The first generator was operational in 2013. There are three 160- MW - Francis turbines installed and generators with an installed capacity of 480 MW. They can generate an average of around 850 GWh of electricity annually.

Building

The barrier structure consists of a 180 meter high arch dam with a variable radius and an arch length of 202 meters. The wall is 6 meters wide at the top and 28 meters at the base with a concrete volume of 550,000 m³. The dam has a catchment area of 27.886 km² and the reservoir has a storage volume of 3200 million m³. Its water surface is 69.5 km² and the lake is 40 km long. The dam has two flood reliefs . The larger main relief has two radial seals and can discharge up to 5763 m³ / s. The auxiliary relief is uncontrolled and has an output of 2467 m³ / s.
