Sekisui House in Europe and Germany

In the early 1970s, Sekisui House tried to gain a foothold in Europe. With Sekisui Systembouw, founded in Enschede in the Netherlands , and in cooperation with Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall , the goal was the German market. In 1973 the company opened a factory in West Germany with the aim of producing 500 prefabricated houses a year. Due to higher than assumed production costs, only about 120 could be sold annually. In 1982 the factory was closed. On July 15, 1975, the Sekisui Deutschland Bau GmbH, based in Cologne , a 100% subsidiary of the Japanese parent company, was founded to sell prefabricated houses produced in Germany. After production ended, the company turned to real estate leasing. On November 17, 2005 the company was announced to be dissolved and completed by March 2007 with a loss of 137 million yen. Another subsidiary in Germany was Pro-Renta Haus-u. Founded in April 1981. Housing rental GmbH. From 1972 to 2004 the shares of Sekisui House KK were listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange , from 1977 to 2005 also on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange .
