Sector gasa ( Russian Сектор газа ; may the Russian gas sector or sectors of the gas , but also the Gaza Strip , respectively) is the name of a well-known punk - band from Voronezh , Russia to the band leader Yuri Nikolayevich Klinskich ( Russian Юрий Николаевич Клинских ) (nickname Choi ) and otherwise changing cast . The music group was founded in 1987. The musical style of the band is characterized by melodic sounding pieces that are heavily influenced by obscenity, whose willingness to experiment is only surpassed by their wild, emotional brilliance. The repertoire can mainly be divided into socially critical pieces, interpretations of Russian folk songs , mystical pieces about vampires and werewolves , rock ballads and, last but not least, metal- like pieces.

The name of the band is derived from the unofficial name of a district of the city of Voronezh , about which the band sings that the environment there is so contaminated by the many gas factories that nobody will live to be 40 years old. In fact, the band leader Juri Choi died on July 4, 2000 at the age of 35 due to heart failure.

Some former band members formed the band Ex-Sector gasa after Choi's death , but it was nowhere near as well known as the original. Since many sector Gasa fans saw the name as presumptuous, ex-sector Gasa finally renamed itself to "Voronezh".

"Sector Gasa" was one of the most famous and successful rock bands in Russian rock history , along with " Kino / ( Wiktor Zoi )" .
