Secondary thermometer
In contrast to primary thermometers , secondary thermometers must first be calibrated on other thermometers . In this case, the measured variable is not linked to the temperature via fundamental physical relationships; instead, after calibration , it is often easier and cheaper to use than a primary thermometer.
Examples of secondary thermometers
- Resistance thermometer : Metals ( platinum measuring resistors such as Pt100, Pt1000), doped semiconductors , carbon resistors (Speer, Allen-Bradley ), ruthenium oxide resistors
- Capacitance thermometer
- Thermocouples
- Magnetization thermometer
- Magnetic resonance thermometer
- Quartz crystals
