The Karl Marx secondary school is an all-day school in the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen . The school is on the outskirts of the city center.

history

The polytechnic high school Karl-Marx was opened in 1965.

From 1991 to 2005 a primary school was also housed at the site. In the 2005/2006 school year, the "Karl Marx" secondary school merged with the Reutter secondary school in Gardelegen and the secondary school in Jävenitz. Since then, the building has been used exclusively by the secondary school.

The school received national attention in the mid- 2000s through a fire letter in which the staff council listed the unreasonable conditions.

school-building

The foundation stone for the first school building was laid in 1963.

In 2015, the architectural association Zimmermann from Dresden received the Hannes Meyer Prize of the BDA Saxony-Anhalt for the current school building .
