Seldeneck is a living space within the boundaries of the Creglinger district Blum hamlet in Main-Tauber-Kreis in Franconia dominated northeastern Baden-Wuerttemberg .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1263 as Seldenecke . The place name probably comes from the word salida (= luck), which indicates a typical castle name. The local Seldeneck castle was located in a spur above the Taubertal . Only a few remains of the masonry are left of the former castle. A noble family, the so-called barons of Seldeneck, was named after the castle in the 13th century from the master chef von Nordenberg, Schultheißen zu Rothenburg . After the von Nordenberg was extinguished, the Seldenecks received the Imperial Office of Hereditary Kitchen Masters in the 15th century. The family died out towards the end of the 16th century. Part of Seldeneck Castle was owned by Hohenlohe at an early stage. They took half of the castle as a fief from the Crown of Bohemia in 1341. In 1344 the von Seldenecks sold the remaining part of the castle to the burgraves of Nuremberg. These in turn left the other share acquired by Hohenlohe to those of Seinsheim. In 1404 Rothenburg ob der Tauber bought the fortress and the Seldeneck office. Seldeneck Castle was probably destroyed soon afterwards, probably during the turmoil surrounding the deposition of King Wenceslas.
The place came as part of the formerly independent municipality of Blumweiler on February 1, 1972 to the city of Creglingen.
