Selenicereus hondurensis is a species of plant in the genus Selenicereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Selenicereus hondurensis grows splayed , creeping or climbing with long shoots up to 2.2 centimeters in diameter. Your 7 to 10 ribs are slightly dented. From the dark areoles , covered with brownish hair and bristles, arise 7 to 10 white, bristle-like, non-piercing thorns 4 to 5 millimeters long.
The creamy white flowers are up to 23 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 18 centimeters. The top-shaped, dark pink colored fruits have a diameter of 5.5 centimeters and a length of up to 6 centimeters.
Distribution and systematics
Selenicereus hondurensis is common in Guatemala , Honduras and Nicaragua at low altitudes. The valid first description as Cereus hondurensis was published in 1904 by Wilhelm Weingart (1856-1936). Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Selenicereus in 1909 .
