Selenicereus tricae is a species of plant in the genus Selenicereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Selenicereus tricae has a richly branched growth , stretched to climbing and reaches a length of up to 5 meters or more. The triangular, light green shoots have a diameter of up to 4 centimeters. From the slightly raised areoles , 2 to 4.5 centimeters apart, arise 1 to 3 thorns , which can also be missing. The yellowish thorns are thickened at the base and 1 to 4 millimeters long.

The flowers are 24 to 27 inches long. Their outer bracts are lime green with a brown tint, the inner white with a slightly purple base. The pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with some brown wool and some bristles. The fruits are unknown.

Distribution and systematics

Selenicereus tricae is common in southern Mexico , Belize and Guatemala . The first description was published in 1989 by David Richard Hunt .

A synonym is Hylocereus tricae .
