Selim Temo

Selim Temo (born April 27, 1972 in Mêrîna, Batman ) is a Kurdish writer, poet , academic and translator from Turkey .

Selim Temo was born in 1972 in the village of Mêrîna, Batman Province. He attended elementary school in his village, finished secondary school in 1986 and high school in Batman in 1991 . In 2000, Selim Temo graduated from the tray Ethnology at the University of Ankara . He received his Masters and PhD from Bilkent University on Turkish literature. He started as an assistant professor at the University of Mardin in 2009 and was a visiting professor at the University of Exeter in 2011 . Temo was excluded from the University of Mardin by ordinance with the force of law (kanun hükmünde kararname) in January 2017.

Temo is the author of several volumes of poetry and translated books such as those by Mehmed Uzun . His greatest work was the two-volume anthology of Kurdish poems, which he published in 2007 after five years of work. Selim Temo wrote in various media such as Esmer , Radikal (2013–2014) and, since January 2017, Gazete Duvar.
