Selim Yenel

Selim Yenel (born June 9, 1956 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish diplomat .

life and career

Yenel studied political science at Ankara University . He began his career in the Turkish diplomatic service in 1979 and was alternately posted to the Foreign Ministry in Ankara and to posts abroad (including the Embassy in Kabul , Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations in New York, Permanent Mission of Turkey to the European Economic Community) . In the Foreign Office in Ankara he was a. a. responsible for EU economic agendas. From December 2005 to October 2009 he was ambassador at the Embassy in Vienna . Then he moved back to the Foreign Ministry in Ankara. Since December 2011 he has been the Permanent Representative of Turkey to the European Union in Brussels. (The Permanent Representation of Turkey to the European Economic Community, today the European Union, was established in 1963 as part of the EEC-Turkey Association Agreement .)
