Selma Ergeç (born November 1, 1978 in Hamm , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German-Turkish photo model and actress .

Career

After starting medical studies in Germany, she was asked about her good looks by a patient during an internship abroad in her parents' home country and asked why she was a doctor and not a model . During this stay in Turkey, Ergeç, who was encouraged to get involved in this direction, was contracted by an Istanbul model agency and began with the first model orders.

TV appearances in music videos, commercials and series followed. Ergeç made her first acting experience in the television series Yarım Elma (2002), where she was allowed to mime a gullible and less intelligent neighbor without having to audition after the original, Ergeç-like actress no longer wanted to play the role.

One of the first fashion magazines in which the German medical student appeared was the Turkish Marie Claire .

After her first successes, the German-Turkish woman broke off her medical studies and became the darling of the young Turkish designer scene as a model. There was also a lot of collaboration with Turkey's most famous fashion designer, Hakan Yıldırım , for whom she ran at national and international fashion shows.

In 2005, the model wrote a contribution to the German-Turkish anthology What are you living? , in which young German-Turks report on their more or less life between two cultures.

Her career as an actress began in 2005: In the literary adaptation based on Ahmet Ümit Sis ve gece (2007), a film that was nominated for the Golden Tulip at the Istanbul International Film Festival , she played a prominent leading role in the cinema.

Ergeç has been living in Turkey for years. She played in the successful Asi series as Defne and most recently in Muhteşem Yüzyıl as Hatice Sultan.
