Semantic Wiki

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A semantic wiki is a wiki that has a model of the knowledge stored in it.

Non-semantic wikis contain structured text and untyped hyperlinks . Semantic wikis make it possible to record knowledge about pages ( metadata ) and their relationships. The knowledge base of a semantic wiki is usually implemented in a formal language so that machines can process it at least partially automatically. The technologies from the field of the Semantic Web form the basis for automatic conclusions in the knowledge base.

In particular, algorithms can derive new knowledge (e.g. additional relations between pages) from the existing facts.
