Semonides
Semonides of Amorgos (also Simonides ) was a Greek iambic poet of the 7th / 6th centuries. Century BC Chr.
The Samos- born poet probably got his nickname from Amorgos because he was said to have been involved in a leading position in the establishment of the Minoa colony on the island of Amorgos . His work is said to have included two books with iambia, as well as elegies. Only about 30 fragments have survived, including the so-called "women" -jambus, which lists different categories of women with their vices.
