Sempervivum charadzeae is a species of houseleek ( Sempervivum ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).
description
Vegetative characteristics
Sempervivum charadzeae grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 8 to 12 centimeters (rarely 6 to 15 centimeters). Your rather pale red, thick, downy-haired runners are 15 to 30 centimeters (rarely up to 35 centimeters) long. The spatulate leaves, which are abruptly narrowed towards the tip, have glandular and downy hairs. Downy hair and eyelashes are of unequal length.
Generative characteristics
The unevenly glandular, downy-haired flower shoot reaches a length of 40 to 50 centimeters (rarely up to 60 centimeters). Sometimes glandless hair is also present. It has broadly lanceolate leaves that encompass broad stems. The upright, umbellate inflorescence consists of three to five many-flowered coils. The 13-fold flowers are on approximately 5 millimeter long flower stalks . Their lanceolate, gradually tapering, belly-side bare sepals are fused together at the base. They are green and a little purple and are 5 to 6 millimeters long. The linear-lanceolate, abruptly pointed, pink to light pink petals have a length of about 11 millimeters and are 2.5 millimeters wide. The pink stamens turn dark purple towards their base. The anthers are light yellow, the scales of nectar almost circular to almost square.
Systematics and distribution
Sempervivum charadzeae is widespread in the east of Georgia in submontane areas on rocks, in forests.
The first description by Ms. MZ Gurgenidze was published in 1969. She paid tribute to the services of Anna Lukianovna Charadze (Kharadze) (1905–1971), a Georgian botanist.
