Sempervivum dzhavachischvilii is a species of houseleek ( Sempervivum ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).

Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum dzhavachischvilii grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. The lanceolate, tapering, short glandular, downy-haired, dark green leaves are very slightly purple on the back. They have dark purple tips. Your leaf blade is 15 to 18 millimeters long.

Generative characteristics

The unevenly glandular, downy-haired flower shoots reach a length of 7 to 10 centimeters (rarely up to 12 centimeters). It has leaves that are widened at the base and slightly narrowed above the middle. The upright, umbellate inflorescence is 20 to 25 flowers . The eleven-fold flowers have a diameter of 2 to 2.3 centimeters. Their variable, glandular-downy-haired sepals are up to 10 millimeters long. The linear-lanceolate, pointed petals are almost upright. Their inside is short, downy-haired, the back is unevenly glandular and downy-haired. The inwardly curved, shiny, intensely purple, rarely reddish petals are white near their edge. The stamens are dark purple, the anthers light purple or rarely orange. The bald pen is light purple in color. The square nectar flakes are sanded out.

Systematics and distribution

Sempervivum dzhavachischvilii is common in Russia in the east of the Caucasus in Dagestan .

The first description by Ms. MZ Gurgenidze was published in 1969. The species name honors the Georgian plant collector A. Dzhavachishvili.
