Sempervivum ermanicum is a species of houseleek ( Sempervivum ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).

Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum ermanicum grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 6 to 8 centimeters (rarely up to 10 centimeters). Their thick, brownish, densely glandular-downy-haired runners are 20 to 25 centimeters long. The lanceolate, obovate, dark green leaves, which are abruptly narrowed towards the tip, are ciliate at their edges .

Generative characteristics

The flowering shoot reaches a length of 20 to 30 centimeters (rarely up to 40 centimeters). It has broadly lanceolate leaves that are gradually narrowed towards the tip, 40 to 50 millimeters long. The equinox inflorescence is glandular and downy with unevenly long hairs. The 12 to 15-fold flowers have a diameter of 3 to 3.5 centimeters. Their elongated sepals are fused together at their base. Along the edges and on the back they are long glandular and downy-haired. Your inside is bare. The lanceolate petals are gradually narrowed towards the tip. Its tip is long glandular and downy, the edges irregularly glandular and downy. The dark purple-violet, 15 to 17 millimeter long petals have a dark central stripe and are white near their edge. The anthers are light yellowish purple in color.

Systematics and distribution

Sempervivum ermanicum is distributed in Georgia in the Central Transcaucasus on volcanic rocks at altitudes of 2600 to 3000 meters. The species is only known from the locality of the type.

The first description by Ms. MZ Gurgenidze was published in 1969.
