Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum iranicum grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 3 to 7 centimeters and forms short runners . The elongated, tiny, glandular, downy-haired leaves are glaucous green. The leaf blade is 25 to 30 millimeters long and 10 to 15 millimeters wide. Outer leaves are pointed, inner leaves are short finely pointed. The leaf margin is entire.

Generative characteristics

The densely leafed, succulent flowering shoot reaches a length of 10 to 20 centimeters. Its elongated, short, pointed leaves are somewhat longer and wider than those of the leaf rosette . The compact inflorescence consists of three- to six-flowered bouquets . The 12 to 14-fold flowers have a diameter of 2 to 5 centimeters. Their yellowish green sepals are about 6 millimeters long. The white, keeled petals are about 14 millimeters long and 26 millimeters wide. They are striped pink on the keel. The anthers are dark purple in color. The stylus is bent back abruptly.

Systematics and distribution

Sempervivum iranicum is common in the north of Iran .

The first description by Joseph Friedrich Nicolaus Bornmüller and Erwin Gauba was published in 1940.
