Sennacieca Asocio Tutmonda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sennacieca Asocio Tutmonda (SAT) is a left-wing Esperanto association. The term sennacieca refers to the "nationless", "anational" orientation of the association. It brings together left-wing Esperanto speakers of different political and ideological origins, for example social democrats, free thinkers and communists. The SAT has only individual members, but it works with the workers' Esperanto associations, which are mostly organized on a national level.

history

The SAT was founded in 1921 as an organization of the workers' Esperanto movement. The most important figure among the founders was Eugène Adam, who became known under the pseudonym Lanti . At the end of the 1920s, SAT had around 6,000 members. As a relatively large international association with individual membership (as opposed to umbrella associations which bring together national organizations), it is unique in the labor movement. The chairman of the executive committee, Jacques Schram, stated the number of members in 2003 as 881. In 2006 the number of paying members was 724.

aims

The SAT wants to use the international planned language Esperanto for the class goals of the worldwide workforce as well as promote the internationalist education of the members and create corresponding literature. This definition was adopted at the founding congress of the SAT in 1921; it is still valid today. In 1928 the goals were specified with the following addition:

"Since SAT is not a party political organization, but rather an educational, educational and cultural organization, its members should show understanding and tolerance towards the political and philosophical schools or systems on which the various class struggle workers' parties and trade union movements are based. By comparing facts and figures Ideas, as well as through free discussion, SAT wants to make it impossible for its members to dogmatize the political lessons they receive in their respective environment. In short, SAT aims to create more rational thinking through the worldwide use of a rationally thought-out language in the long term To encourage spirits who are able to compare ideas, theses and tendencies well, to understand them correctly and to assess them, and who are therefore also able to choose independently the path they consider the most direct or most viable to liberate their class and humanity to the highest possible level To elevate civilization and culture. "

The SAT is not an organization that works for the spread of Esperanto, but uses Esperanto for its goals.

structure

The SAT has an anational structure. Members join directly and not through membership of national organizations.

Theoretically, decisions of the SAT are made by means of a basic referendum: Every decision of a SAT congress is only valid after acceptance by a referendum. This regulation in the statute wants a grassroots democratic control. However, experience shows that most congressional decisions are never subject to a referendum. The board of directors of the SAT that leads the association is called the executive committee.

Krešimir Barković has been the editor of the monthly magazine Sennaciulo ("The Nationless ") and has been Secretary General for years . Vinko Markovo has been the President of the Executive Committee since 2012 .

activity

The SAT publishes the monthly magazine Sennaciulo , the annual cultural magazine Sennacieca Revuo and various books, the most important of which is the Plena Ilustrita Vortaro de Esperanto (PIV).

Every year it organizes an international congress that deals with current social and political issues.
