Senser is a 1989 in London , founded Crossover - band .

Band history

Founding members were Nick Michaelson ( guitar ), Heitham Al-Sayed (vocals), Kerstin Haigh (vocals), John Morgan ( drums ), James Barrett ( bass ) and Alan "Haggis" Haggerty (engineer, producer and programmer). In 1992 DJ Andy Clinton joined the band. With their mix of hard rock, hip-hop with psychedelia and electronica influences, often referred to as rap rock, they were part of the crossover wave of the mid-90s.

Their breakthrough came with their performance at the Glastonbury Festival in 1992, which helped them gain positive press and a record deal. Her debut single Eject immediately became a number one hit on the indie charts. With the follow-up singles The Key and Switch , they made it into the official UK charts . The debut album Stacked Up even debuted at number 4.

From 1993 to 1995 the large band was on tour almost constantly, twice in Europe and then as support for Moby in the USA. During this time internal tensions grew so much that in August 1995 three members left. Without Morgan, Al-Sayed and Haggis, Senser went on and after another tour they produced another album called Asylum . Even before the release they took a foray into the drum and bass genre under the name De: Senser . Neither the project nor the second crossover album made a big impression.

Thereupon the band broke up in early 1999. Only a few years later did the members get back together when their record label asked for a best-of CD. Then all the original members, including the three who had since tried unsuccessfully under the name Lodestar , went to the recording studio together and produced a new album called Schematic , which was directly linked to the debut Stacked Up . The next studio album How to Do Battle (2009) continued the well-known style, but they could not achieve any further success with their 90s music.

Senser are known for their mostly political texts and their stand against racism.
