Josef Wöhnhart

Josef "Sepp" Wöhnhart (* 1913 ; † 1975 ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Wöhnhart completed a degree in architecture at the Vienna University of Technology . Before the Second World War he was the construction manager of the new air base in Wiener Neustadt and during the Second World War he worked on the construction of the “Air Force Base Schwechat-Ost” / “Heidfeld”, today 's Schwechat Airport .

As a working group with the architects Robert Hartinger jun. (1910–2002) and Franz Xaver Schlarbaum (1892–1959) he won the second prize in the general public competition in 1949 for the reconstruction of the destroyed Vienna West Railway Station . After no first prize was awarded, the consortium received the contract and carried it out by 1954.

Wöhnhart was buried on February 13, 1975 at the Pötzleinsdorfer Friedhof (group 24, row 8, number 1).

  • 1955–1956: Residential complex of the municipality of Vienna in the 7th district, Neustiftgasse 89–91.
  • 1957: AEZ (exhibition and shopping center) on Landstraßer Brücke, today Landstraßer Hauptstraße , in the 3rd district of Vienna. Grinded in the 1990s.
  • 1958–1960: Filial church of St. Joseph in Hirschwang in the municipality of Reichenau an der Rax . Executed by Alexander Seebacher according to his plans.
  • 1959–1961: Filial church St. Florian in Stuppach in the municipality of Reichenau an der Rax.
  • 1959–1963: Housing complex of the municipality of Vienna in the 2nd district, Engerthstraße 237 / Machstraße / Wehlistraße. Together with Walter Gindele, Siegfried Mörth, Erich Schlöss, Franz Schuster, Alfred Wanko and Erich Boltenstern.
  • 1964–1966: Machstrasse parish church in Vienna's 2nd district (Machstrasse 8–10; based on plans by the architect Erich Boltenstern ).
