Machstrasse parish church
The Machstrasse parish church is a Roman Catholic parish church in the 2nd district of Vienna Leopoldstadt in the courtyard of a residential complex at Machstrasse 8-10. The parish is in the deanery 2/20 of the Archdiocese of Vienna belonging city Vicariate Vienna . It is consecrated to St. Klaus von der Flüe .
history
The parish church is part of a residential complex that was built from 1964 to 1966 by Josef Wöhnhart according to the plans of the architect Erich Boltenstern . In 1967 the church was elevated to a parish church. From 1966 to 1996 Paul Weß was parish chaplain and later parish priest.
architecture
The simple hall building with a flat roof stands a little higher on pillars. The entrance wall and the altar wall have glass windows by Günther Kraus .
