Serdce is a Belarusian progressive death metal band from Gomel , which was founded in 1997 under the name Cor .

history

Serdce's origins go back to 1997 when the band Cor was formed. In the winter of the same year, a first demo appeared under the name My Eyes . In 1999 the singer and guitarist Nik Goroshko moved to Minsk and reformed the band there. In 2001 the band project, which at that time had no name, recorded a demo. After a suitable name had been found in Serdce, the band went to the X-Noise Factory Studio in Minsk in 2002 to record the album Аритмия (Aritmiya), which was released in 2003 by Art Classic Company . In the same year Goroshko and drummer Andrew D. Dybal began work on the next album, which was released in 2004 under the name Cyberly on Metalagen Records and Soyuz Records . About this also Аритмия was re-released. With keyboardist Oleg Kreslavskiy as a new band member, the group returned to the X-Noise Factory Studio in 2006 to record the album The Alchemy of Harmony , which was released in late 2009. In October 2015 the band performed at ProgPower Europe . The year before, the next album Timelessness was released by Blood Music .

style

According to Bonnek from progarchives.com , the band combines brutal death metal and progressive metal . However, Serdce differs from most progressive metal bands through the use of jazz elements and unpredictable song structures. Austin Weber of nocleansinging.com described the group as a progressive death metal band. Timelessness is very different from its predecessor. In general, the group is getting closer to classic Progressive Metal with each release. In addition, you get closer to Cynic's Death Metal . This is mainly caused by the use of Fusion elements and the very present electric bass. In addition, influences from jazz can also be heard. The groove of the Death Metal influence reminds me of Meshuggah . A piano or synthesizer can also often be heard in the songs .
