Serena Ryder (born December 8, 1983 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian singer and guitarist.

Life

Ryder already appeared as a teenager both as a solo artist and in various bands . In 1999, Falling Out, the first CD with songs she had written herself, was released on the independent label Mime Radio from Peterborough (Ontario) . Then came independent EPs and live recordings with Serena (1999; only on cassette ), Live at The Market Hall , A Day In the Studio (both 2002) and Serena Ryder Live (2003) .

In 2005, Unlikely Emergency was released on Hawksley Workman 's Isadora Records label . The following album, If Your Memory Serves You Well , came out the following year on the major label EMI . In 2007 Ryder released the EP Told You in a Whispered Song and in November 2008 her album Is It OK (previously only in Canada).

In 2007 she received the Canadian Juno Award for Young Artist of the Year. In 2009 she booked her Québec counterpart Carole Facal alias Caracol for her opening act.
